Forty years ago, some 130 Trojan Marching Band members and alums performed as part of the Olympic All American Marching Band at the opening ceremonies of the 1984 Olympics.

Many of those musicians will be feted at Homecoming halftime on Nov. 16, as TMB woodwinds, silks, flags, yell and spirit leaders perform with the Trojan Marching Band. 1984 Olympic Band alumni are invited to perform as well, to celebrate the accomplishments of 40 years ago.

It promises to be a gold medal performance by everyone. Register now to reserve your spot.

   Instruments: The TMB will provide instruments for those who need them. Be sure to complete the registration form early so we have enough to go around.

   Rehearsals: The halftime show will be charted and all participants need to attend rehearsals and be prepared to march. Or dog it. But at least be in the right place at the right time.

   Tickets: New this year: We’ve arranged for several levels of discounted tickets, ranging from $82.29 to $271.45. The lowest-priced seats offer the greatest discount.

   Reception: Once again, the Trojan Marching Band Alumni Association is arranging a reception for all TMB alums following the Friday rehearsal. Food, drinks, music and fun in the Arthur C. Bartner Band Pavilion. Special discounts available for TMBAA members and young alums. See below to order your ticket.

   Hotel: The TMBAA has reserved a block of rooms at a discount rate at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, 711 South Hope St. Rates start at $219/night for TMB alums. Space is limited. You must reserve by Oct, 25. You may cancel up to 72 hours before your reservation without charge. If you’re not a TMBAA member, you can join now to receive the discount rate.
