Flags & Silks: Everything You Need to Know for Homecoming 2024
2024 and Beyond
Flags and silks are a featured group at Homecoming this year. We will also be part of the all-Alumni Band at Homecoming in 2025 and will again be a featured group in 2026.
Flags – Purchase Information
All halftime silk participants wil perform with a new flag. The cost is $30. We will distribute the flags at the Friday, Nov. 15 rehearsal. Please bring cash payment. We are not able to take online payments.
These flags will also be used next year for the full band Homecoming and the following year, 2026, when silks will again be a featured group. So please hang on to your flag!
Flag Poles – Bring Your Own
Silk homecoming participants must bring their own flag pole. We will not have poles at Homecoming to rent, purchase, or borrow. If you need a pole, please purchase it directly from the Band Shoppe.
You should order a 5½-foot metallic gold pole. The cost is $17.95 plus shipping.
Performance Flag Routines
The halftime featured rock chart for the silks is “Sing, Sing, Sing.”
We’ll let you know if other songs are added and provide video links for those routines.
You’ll find links to videos for the various versions, and parts A and B, in the new Silks Routines Video Library. Scroll down the page and click the “hamburger” — the three-line icon at the top right of the video image for a list of routines.
NEW! We have a new 16-count recurring sequence that you can learn and perform in lieu of an entire routine. That way, if you can’t practice, or don’t feel confident with a more difficult routine, you can still participate and do more than side-to-side presents. The 16-count sequence can just be repeated over and over for any song –useful for post-game too! You’ll find it in the video library.
Please practice the routine and be ready to run it on Friday at the Homecoming rehearsal.
Performance Charting
Halftime charting will be completed before the Friday rehearsal for all who have signed up. You will be charted to a field position according to the routine version you are performing, including the 16-count recurring sequence.
Rehearsals
We will hold rehearsal sessions every Sunday in October and the first two weeks of November. We will also rehearse on Friday afternoon before Homecoming, and on Homecoming day before band practice. These are rehearsals, not teaching sessions.
Please come prepared to run through “Sing, Sing, Sing” and any rock charts you wish to do post-game. Use the videos to learn or refresh. We will meet in front of Heritage Hall and may move from there depending on USC’s reservation policy.

What to Wear
- Red TMB shirt: If you already hava an alumni silks shirrt, wear that. There may be some shirts for sale Friday afternoon. Credit card payment only.
- Black pants: Please wear black pants – not jeans – easy to move in long black pants – so we have a uniform, neat look.
Communications
You’ll find general Homecoming information for all TMB alumni performers on the TMBAA Homecoming website.
The SC Silks Facebook page we were using does not reach all of the alumni flags and silks and we are striving to consolidate information in one place. We are not responding on the Facebook page.
If you have questions, we now have a dedicated TMBAA email address: silkscoordinator@tmbaa.org.
Here are this year’s silks coordinators. One of us will respond to your email.
